The Negroni is an Italian aperitif that usually features Campari for its balance of bitter and sweet. In fact, Negroni week was created as a collaboration between Campari and Imbibe magazine to boost Camapri sales while donating a portion of the proceeds to charitable causes. The tradition stuck, and over the course of this week, thousands of bars across the world will be doing the same.
Cappelletti's Americano is the perfect stand-in for Campari. With less sugar and a more overt botanical presence, it spins the Negroni in a lighter, more elegant direction.
Ingredients
- 1 oz Cappelletti Americano Rosso
- 1 oz Gin (we used Vitae Modern Gin, but any London Dry style would do)
- 1 oz sweet vermouth (we used Atxa Rojo)
- Orange rind, for garnish
Preparation
- Mix the Cappelletti, gin, and sweet vermouth in a shaker over ice and stir until chilled. Serve on the rocks in an old fashioned glass, garnished with an orange rind.
