Madeira gets a bad rap in cocktails. It's a real shame. Like sherry, madeira adds an oxidative backdrop, acidity, and a little boozy oomph to cocktails with infinite measurability. Dry Madeira, in particular, is especially glass-friendly. Want it sweeter? Add a little simple syrup.
Ingredients
- 1½ oz Henrique & Henrique Madeira "Special Dry" 5 Year
- 1 oz Ransom Old Tom Gin
- ½ oz Catherine & Michel Langlois Crème de Mûre de Bourgogne (or amaretto, if you can't find a suitable blackberry liqueur)
Preparation
- Combine the madeira, gin, and blackberry liqueur in a shaker over ice and shake until well-chilled.
- Strain into a coupe glass and serve.
