An iconic drink from the 1880s, the original Ramos Gin Fizz recipe instructed the bartender to shake the cocktail for 12 minutes. A good 30 seconds each way is enough for government work. A little strawberry syrup makes this an especially springy take.
Ingredients
- 2 oz London dry gin
- ½ oz lemon juice
- ½ oz lime juice
- 2 oz J.T. Copper Strawberry-Peppercorn Syrup
- 1 oz heavy cream
- 4 drops rosewater
- 1 egg white
- Soda water, as needed
- Mint sprig and a strawberry, as garnishes
Preparation
- Combine the gin, lemon juice, lime juice, syrup, heavy cream, rosewater, and egg white in a shaker without ice. Shake for 30 seconds.
- Add ice to shaker and shake for another 30 seconds. Strain into a tall, chilled glass (a Collins glass words well) and top up with soda. A fine foam should float to the top with the addition of the soda.
- Garnish with the mint and strawberry. Serve at once.
