Much like its namesake, cocktail is a balancing act of lush density and angular structure. Fot Li Vermut, with its heady aromatics of vanilla and baking spices, may at first blush seem too rich a pairing for cassis. In this case, Mt. Defiance's particular liqueur keeps things from becoming bogged down with a healthy punch of acid. Greenhat gin further leans out the palate.
Ingredients
- 1½ oz Fot Li Reus Vermut Rojo
- 1 oz Greenhat Citrus Floral Gin
- ½ oz Mt. Defiance Cassis Liqueur
- Expressed orange rind or orange oil spritz
- Sprig of basil, for garnish
Preparation
- Combine the vermut, gin, and cassis liqueur in a shaker over ice and stir well to combine.
- Strain into a rocks glass over ice and garnish with the basil. Enjoy while people watching and practicing your amateur photography.
