Cerise

Cerise

Kelly Allen

Cerise is the French word for "cherry."  Inspired by the aromatic and utterly ephemeral cherry blossom, this cocktail is both bitter and sweet.  A pearlescent pink in the glass.  Just a hair bitter.  It's simple, approachable, and much like the beloved blossoms: quick to vanish.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Antica Torino Stellare Primo (Campari is a reasonable, if less desirable, substitute)
  • ¾ oz lemon juice
  • ½ oz Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
  • 1 dash Artemisia Smoked Cherry Bitters

Preparation

  1. Combine the Antica Torino, lemon juice, Luxardo, and bitters in a shaker over ice.  Stir to combine.
  2. Strain into a Nick & Nora glass and serve unadorned.  Spring blossoms call for little gilding.
