Ikigai roughly translates as something or someone that gives a person a sense of purpose or a reason for living. When life gets busy, it can be hard to see our ikigai. Like the sun peaking through passing clouds, it has a way of making itself known. We just have to know where to look.
Ingredients
- 2 oz North American Sake Brewery "Real Magic" Junmai sake
- ¾ oz Suntory Toki whiskey
- ¾ oz coconut water
- ½ oz kombu syrup (recipe below)
- 1 dash Bittermens Winter Melon Bitters
- Lavender sprig
Preparation
- Combine the whiskey, sake, coconut water, syrup, and bitters in a cocktail shaker over ice. Stir to combine.
- Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with the lemon rind.
Kombu syrup: in a medium saucepan, combine 1 large piece of kombu with 2 cups water. Bring to a boil, reduce from heat, and steep for 5 minutes. Strain and return the liquid to the pot. Add 2 cups sugar and stir over medium heat until fully dissolved. Store chilled.
