Strawberry-Gin Granita

This super-simple dessert comes together in just minutes.  Arguably on the favorable side of healthy, it makes a refreshing snack on a hot afternoon, or an elegant ending to a meal on a hot day. 


  • 4 cups strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 6 tbsp gin
  • 2-3 tbsp honey
  • Pinch of salt
  • Slivered mint leaves, for serving


  1. Combine the strawberries, gin, honey, and salt in the bowl of a food processor.  Process until totally smooth.  
  2. Pour into a shallow, freezer-safe dish with a lid.  Place in the freezer, returning every 1-2 hours to scrap the granita with a fork until totally frozen.  This disrupts the formation of ice crystals.  
  3. To serve, allow to defrost for a few minutes.  Portion into serving dishes and garnish with the fresh mint.
