Bourbon-Vanilla Frozen Yogurt

Bourbon-Vanilla Frozen Yogurt

A lighter alternative to homemade ice cream.  Honey and bourbon keep it from freezing quite so firmly.  Thaw for 30-45 minutes before serving.

Ingredients

  • 32 oz plain, full fat Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp bourbon
  • Dash of salt

Preparation

  1. Combine the Greek yogurt, honey, vanilla extract, salt, and bourbon in a large bowl. Mix together until thoroughly combined.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan or similar sized pan. Spread the yogurt into a smooth layer.  Cover the pan with plastic wrap and transfer it to the freezer.
  3. Stir the yogurt with a spoon every 30 minutes for 2 hours. It should slowly begin to thicken.
  4. After 2 hours or so, the frozen yogurt should be at soft-serve consistency.  Feel free to enjoy as is, or allow to solidify further for a denser texture.

Note: Once fully frozen, this recipe becomes quite firm.  Allow to thaw for 20-30 minutes before serving for optimum texture.
