As we begin to gather together for the Thanksgiving holiday, it's important to take a moment just to be and connect with those around you. Before we jump in to the churn of meal preparation, or feasting, or arguing about a million things, take a pause together. Let this cocktail be a small communal prayer as you all come to the hearth.
This is portioned for one serving, but can easily be scaled up and made to pour for many as they arrive.
Ingredients
- 1 oz tawny port (we used Butler Nephew & Co. Porto Tawny Finest Reserve Port)
- ½ oz Haitian Rhum (we used Barbancourt 8yr)
- ⅛ oz dry curaçao
- 1 dash Artemisia Smoked Cherry Bitters
Preparation
- Combine the port, rhum, dry curaçao, and bitters in a cocktail shaker with ice. Stir to combine and chill.
- Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
Optional: garnish with an orange twist or brandied cherries. - Share with reverence and kindness.
