About Vinicola de Nulles
About Vinicola de Nulles
It's the beginning of 1900, and after hundreds of years with plantations and family winemaking, the inhabitants of Nulles decide to join their resources and knowledge to create the union of Sant Isidre and build the town's shared winery: the Cathedral of Wine of Nulles . This union materialized in 1917, the 1920 harvest being the first to fill the new tanks of the modernist winery. This emblematic building, the work of Cèsar Martinell, is one of the greatest examples of the modernist movement. It stands out not only for its beauty, but for bringing together all the everything the community needed to collaboratively make wine. Nulles is a warm, Mediterranean climate. Located just 12 km from the sea, the vines receive plenty of daytime sun, braced by the cooling winds off the ocean. The resulting grapes are powerfully aromatic yet still balanced in their acidity and structure. The winemakers of Nulles primarilly work with grapes native to the region: Macabeu, Xarel·lo, Parellada, and Moscatell. Of late, they've added Chardonnay and Merlot to the equation, broadening the foundation of their blends.
