Fred Jerbis (FJ) stands for "Frederico's Herbs". The name is Friulian in origin, and speaks to the importance of their unique region in the composition of their spirits. Owner and founder Frederico Cremasco found a love and obsession with wild herbs many years ago. Fred would study the herbs in the forests of Carina, grow them in neighboring fields, and finally come to the grand experiment of extracting their essences. Frederico is an alchemist continually in a dialog with nature; a researcher experimenting with new combinations of flavors, and an herbalist growing plants with care day by day.
Each of FJ's products takes its inspiration from classic Italian Liquorology, dating back to 1946. Vermut 25, as the name suggests, is made from 25 local botanicals. It is aged for almost a year and gains its deep, amber color from the addition of caramelized sugar, much in the way of Turinese vermouth. Three types of wormwood are combined with cinchona and gentian to create a layered bitterness that is both floral and drying.
