This soft, supple Zinfandel leads with hibiscus and violets on the nose, with cassis, boysenberries, and sage on the palate. Pairs well with steak, hearty pastas, semi-aged cheeses like cheddar and gouda, and roasted vegetables.
Hand-picked and destemmed into stainless steel tanks, fermentation happened naturally with native yeast. Post-fermentation, the grapes were pressed into neutral French oak and bottled after 12 months.
This vintage comes from Mattern vineyard in the Talmage Bench area of Mendocino. It was planted in the 1930s and is both head-trained and dry-farmed by the Mattern family. The vineyard is certified CCOF Organic and Demeter Biodynamic.
About Ultraviolet
About Ultraviolet
Ultraviolet Wines are an homage to the California climate where winemaker Samantha Sheehan grew up. It's a pure expression of fruit ripened under the California sun. Samantha is committed to using locally-grown, organically-farmed grapes; keeping her production small; and using no additives (other than minimal amounts of sulfur). Her wines are fruit-forward, aromatic, and with nice acidity. She was named one of Food & Wine Magazine’s “15 Women to Watch in Wine,” and has been featured in Bloomberg, Wine & Spirits Magazine (Best New Spirits with Mommenpop), the San Francisco Chronicle, LA Times, and many other publications.
