An unusual rosé pressed from whole cluster Noiret, a red hybrid grape at the heart of Virginia's sustainable viticulture movement. Star Party winemaker Tim Jordan ferments and ages his Noiret in stainless steel using only ambiently occurring yeasts. The wine then rests on its lees for 10 months.
In Tim's words, the goal is to allow the grapes to express themselves “in their place and time.” In this case, that means plenty of red fruit, black pepper, and Noiret's hallmark minty finish.
About Star Party
About Star Party
Star Party is a family affair: brother and sister Mary and Mike teamed up with their respective spouses to make wine together–initially just for fun in their basement! Today, they have their own 3-acre vineyard site in the Shenandoah Valley, a part of Virginia known for a cooler, shorter, and drier growing season. They’re working with both vinifera and hybrid grapes and farming sustainably, with spraying reduced to the minimum possible. Teaming up with Tim Jordan of Commonwealth Crush/Lightwell, they released their first commercial vintage in 2021. “We’re continuing to push limits on what grapes are able to tolerate in order to produce unique and delicious fruit,” Tim explains. Winemaking is low intervention. Fermentations take place with native or ambient yeasts. No new oak is used, and sulfur is kept to a minimum.
