Debit is an indigenous grape variety native to the historical Croation region of Dalmatia.  It thrives in the corridors between the ocean and mountains, where high diurnal shift allow for balanced ripeness and acidity.

Pomelo's first méthode ancestrale bottling released in 2020, and their current production is still just around 300 cases annually.  The must first goes through a 5-day maceration on the skins before undergoing spontaneous fermentation in tank.  Prior to bottling, the finished wine is aged for 5 months on the lees.  Bottled with no added sulfur.

About Pomalo Wine Co.

The word “pomalo” is one of the most quintessential words in Dalmatian vocabulary. Translated from Croatian, the word literally means slow, or slowly. However, the word is also used as a way of saying “take it easy”. It speaks to the Dalmatian philosophy of taking a lighthearted approach to life. Pomalo Wine Co. teamed up with two unusual (and elusively titled) winemakers, the Begović cousins, to produce their wines. The Begović cousins are two phenomenal winemakers from starkly different backgrounds - one based in the northeastern mountains of Slovenia, one based on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia — whom discovered their long-lost relation to each other over their mutual family lineage in the village of Kozice, Croatia. They fused their winemaking styles to create and celebrate pure wines of enjoyment, fun and leisure. Pomalo is a part of their creative portfolio.
