This wine suits its name. Its hard to describe the color, its kind of a sliding scale out to the rim. The nose is wildly fragrant, full of fleshy red fruit and colorful flowers. The palate is entirely different. While the fruit is there, its a more underripe version of it. The subtle tannin structure implies an almost apple-like texture. Generous and exuberant, it's a soft, grippy bottle that never gets boring.

About Lightwell Survey

Lightwell Survey is shining new light on Virginian winemaking. Their small batches of lively reds, dense whites and unique combinations of the two come with no preconceived descriptions or traditional aspirations. They aim for a bullseye yet prefer to land slightly off center. Started in the fall of 2015 with their first harvest in partnership with Early Mountain Vineyards in Madison, VA, their wines will continue to delve into traditional and not so familiar territory.

Region

Sherman Ridge Vineyard (Woodstock), Bluestone Vineyard (Bridgewater), Rainbow Hill Vineyard (Harrisonburg), Barren Ridge Vineyard (Fishersville), Virginia
