In Kobal's own words, this is a wine "created by nature, recreated by human."
This 100% Blaufränkisch comes from the private family vineyards of Bojan Kobal. The grapes are fermented with native yeasts, while the resulting wine is left unfiltered prior to bottling. This is all to ensure that the essential nature of the grapes remains as unchanged as possible between the vineyard and the glass.
This vintage is a delightfully playful yet elegant example of the Blaufränkisch grape. It has both body and power from a structured, gently tannic core, while still landing lightly on the palate thanks to a healthy dose of acidity. Aged in a combination of stainless steel tanks and used large oak barrels.
About Kobal Winery
About Kobal Winery
Located in Posavje, Slovenia, the vineyards of Kobal can be found throughout the hills and slopes of the Bizeljsko-Sremic wine region. Here, grapes have been cultivated since Roman times. Most of their vineyards can be found along the northern bank of the Sava River, protected by the mountains from the harsh northern winds. Kobal farms all of its vineyards using sustainable, environmentally-conscious practices. They're likewise minimal intervention in the cellar, letting nature and terroir express freely.
