A 100% Primitivo from the Murge hills (part of the Murge plateau) within the Gioia del Colle, a town and comune in southern Italy.
The rocky, marine vineyards, planted in 1990, are fully organic with no irrigation. The must is fermented on the skins in stainless steel for eight to nine days using only native yeasts. After nine months, the wine is racked to Slovenian oak tanks for three months, then bottled without filtration. It's then held for another nine months before release.
A balanced and expressive Primitivo with notes of black cherry, toasted bitter almond, and baking spice.
About Fatalone
About Fatalone
Fatalone is a family-owned winery in Gioia del Colle, Puglia, Italy, with a history dating back to the late 1800s. The winery is run by the Petrera family, now in its fifth generation, and is dedicated to producing authentic, locally-grown wines with minimal intervention. They are certified organic and committed to a zero-carbon footprint. Fatalone uses spontaneous fermentation in all of their wines and bottles with minimal sulfites. They occasionally employ music therapy in the cellar while aging the wine to enhance the wine's character. A novel approach in the winery.
