The Carignan in this vintage is sourced from a three-hectare parcel, “Le Alcyon”, located just outside of Travaillan. In order to retain the natural acidity of the grape, they harvest early, keeping the wine both bright on the palate and moderate in alcohol. This is a rustic, country wine that's pleasantly rough around the edges, the kind of thing you want to open with friends around a summer bonfire.
About Domaine La Manarine
About Domaine La Manarine
Domaine la Manarine was created by Gilles Gasq in April 2001. The winery and majority of his vineyards are located within the commune of Travaillan, on a splendid plateau northeast of Orange in the southern Rhone. Gilles is a talented vigneron who has honed his skills working as an assistant to Paul Jeune, the proprietor of Domaine Monpertuis in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. His work is minimalistic, favoring a light touch in the cellar. His wines have avoided the trap of international styling, retaining their bright acid, moderate tannins, and subtle elegance.
