An assemblage of harvests from chardonnay plots throughout Burgy, a small commune within the greater Mâconnais region.  Each plot has a unique soil profile, with all sharing the classic threading of calcium-rich limestone that gives the wines of Mâconnais their distinctive profile.

This vintage is on the young side.  Bottling takes place just one months after fermentation completes.  The resulting wine has plenty of fruit: pears, apples, lemons.  It's a lovely wine for spring or autumn, when something not too heavy is called for.

About Domaine Fichet

The Fichet estate is located in Burgundy in the hamlet of Martoret, in the heart of the Mâconnais. The Fichet family has a long lineage of winemaking stretching back to the Middle Ages. Their ancestors have recorded vintages dating back to 1408. Prompted by a wine crises in 1976, Francis Fichet created his own wine estate, withdrawing his hands from the cooperative cellar of the village. The initial estate was about 22 acres of old vines, and Francis had little experience with the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Gamay growing there. Nevertheless, he quickly mastered his craft and his vineyards, and Domaine Fichet was born. Today, the estate is managed by Olivier Fichet. Much of the vineyard is still managed by hand. All work in the vineyard and winery is managed with an eye towards sustainability. Nothing artificial is used. Traditional techniques are favored over the modern. Chemical inputs are kept to an absolute minimum and to those with natural/organic origins.
