About Domaine des Pothiers
Domaine des Pothiers is a small, 9 hectare estate in the Côte Roannaise planted almost exclusively to the Gamay grape. Georges Paires, whose family have lived here for over 300 years, runs the domaine, which is based in the village of Villemontais. The vineyards are all organic, the fruit hand-harvested and the wines fermented with indigenous yeasts with a maturation in either tank or cement. Côte Roannaise is an appellation that is in at the extreme south-eastern part of the Loire Valley, about 25 miles west of the Maconnais in Burgundy.
