Cosimo Taurino Notarpanaro Negroamaro 2010
Producer: Cosimo Taurino
Region: Salento, Puglia, Italy
For over 4000 years, grapes have been prospering on the Salentine Peninsula. The Taurino family carries on the traditions of their region, with their origins stretching back to the 1800s. Notare Panaro (known today as Notarpanaro) was an ancient estate, and is still in use by the Cosimo family today.
After traditional fermentation, Notarpanaro is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels, followed by an additional 3 years in bottle. The vines for this vintage average at about 20 years old, lending levity and freshness to what is traditionally a serious and intensely concentrated style. That being said, it carries all the hallmarks of a classic Puglian negroamaro, showing fine tannins, plenty of spice, and a balance of berries and smoke.
