About Adega de Monção
On October 11, 1958, 25 winemakers came together to launch a novel production space: Adega Cooperativa e Regional de Monção. By sharing the cost of equipment and processing, these ambitious producers overcame the financial challenges faced by so many wineries even today. Between 1986 and 2004, the cooperative would eventually consolidate its production under a single name: Adega de Monção. In 1998 and again in 2007, Revista de Vinhos magazine awarded the venture the title of Cooperative of the Year. They're currently piloting new initiatives in sustainable energy sourcing to support the Cooperative's needs, specifically focusing on solar panel installation. To this day, their bottlings center on traditional Portuguese varieties, either single or blended.
