Winemaker Raffaele Troisi started the venture, planting vines on his family estate in Montefredane. Raffaele focused his attention of local grape varieties, including Fiano and Coda di Volpe.

Raffaele unfortunately died young. His wife, Elisa, kept his vision alive, and over the decades, became one of the region’s most knowledgeable vine growers. Elsa was naturally talented, with an intuitive grasp of both viticulture and winemaking.

It was Elisa’s son, Antonio, who took the family farm into the commercial realm. Antonio would name his son after his father, Raffaele, drawing the family lineage full circle. This is the Raffaele heading the estate today.

Raffaele is deeply dedicated to capturing an accurate portraiture of Montefredane terroir. At 2,100 feet above sea level, the hills of Montefredane are cool, arid, and intense. The soil is almost entirely composed of volcanic "tufo," a naturally well-drained and mineral-rich deposit. The varietal is 100% Coda di Volpe, a white grape native to Campania. Its name means “tail of the fox," owing to the long shape of its clusters. The wine itself is a juxtaposition of wet stone and honeyed, resinous herbs. Like the fox itself, it walks the boundary between severity and play.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0499/5527/4915/products/image_19cf9be3-b70d-4ffb-86a4-fba2e0d7aeff.jpg?v=1633814600
