Bacon-Wrapped Brussels Sprouts

Aiming for elegant, delicious, and vaguely healthy? Wrap something green in bacon and everyone will be happy.  
 

Ingredients:

      Preparation

      1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
      2. Line a a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Trim the stem ends of the Brussels sprouts and put into a medium bowl. Toss with a little olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
      3. Cut the bacon in half.  Wrap each sprout with bacon and secure with a toothpick. Arrange them evenly over the baking sheet.
      4. Brush the maple syrup or hickory syrup on top of the Brussels sprouts.  Bake for 30 minutes, turning them halfway through until the bacon is crisp and sprouts are tender.  Serve hot or at room temperature.
